Directions to Bison Hill Carpark

From Mill Hill Broadway turn right then left onto the A41 Northbound. Stay on the A41 until the M25. Carry on along the A41 dual carriageway towards Berkhamsted.

Turn off the A41 at Berkhamsted (Chesham turnoff, A416). Turn north towards Berkhamsted (opposite direction to Chesham).

In Berkhamsted, turn left onto the A4251. Then turn right at the lights onto New Road (B4506).

Carry on North along the B4506. You will go over Aldbury Common and Ivinghoe Common. Go past Ringshall. Go straight on (2nd exit) at Dagnell where you pass the A4146.

Turn right onto B4540 and head up the hill. (If you reach Tring Road, B489 then you've gone too far...)

At the top of the hill the Bison Hill carpark is on your left. (If you end up in Whipsnade then you've gone too far...)

Directions to Bison Hill Carpark (Altenative via M1 - Quicker now roadworks have completed.)

From Mill Hill Broadway turn right then left onto the A41 Northbound. After Spur Road / Stanmore take the slip road onto the M1 (J4). Continue up the M1 to junction 11.

Turn off the M1 at J11 and turn left. Follow the A505. Cross over the A5 onto the B489. Carry on past the entrance to London Gliding club. At a roundabout turn left onto the B4506 and the immediately first left onto the B4540 and head up the hill.

At the top of the hill the Bison Hill carpark is on your left. (If you end up in Whipsnade then you've gone too far...)

Directions to Chiltern Gateway Visitor Centre (Alternative Start Point)

From Mill Hill Broadway turn right then left onto the A41 Northbound. After Spur Road / Stanmore take the slip road onto the M1 (J4). Continue up the M1 to junction 11.

Turn off the M1 at J11 and turn left. Follow the A505. Cross over the A5 onto the B489. At a roundabout turn left onto the B4541. (If you exit Dunstable down a hill on the B489 towards the gliding club entrance then you've gone too far.)

Follow the B4541 southwards along the top of the downs. The Chiltern Gateway visitor centre will appear on the right hand side. (If you pass under some electricity pylons then you've gone too far.) Turn into the visitor centre and park up. There is a small pay and display fee.
