At the top of the mountain there is a Skywalk and Skytrek centre. The other 14 moths were on the wall of the main building of this centre.

20th May 2006 - London Butterfly House

I joined the AES Bug Club at the London Butterfly House. Compared to a year and a half ago the species set present were slightly different. Naturally I took lots of pictures, some of familiar species, some of ones I had never seen before.

Note that I had to use the flash in quite a lot of these pictures as light levels were quite low. I think the worst affected butterfly was the Owl. I managed to get a shot of it's wings open. The top surface looks quite dull in natural light, but the flash made it look bright blue!

25th - 27th April 2006 - Sao Paulo, Brazil

Some butterfly photographs managed while I was on holiday in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I also remember seeing other butterflies flying around that I had seen in the London Butterfly House, including the Flambeau and possibly the Giant Swallowtail. I had to use the flash for the museum grounds butterflies as it was quite dark under the trees.

5th March 2006 - Naturospace

During a pleasant weekend in France I had a surprise trip to a place called Naturospace in Hornfleur. This is a butterfly house. It is smaller than the London Butterfly House but still plenty to see. As I had my camera with me I managed to photograph some of them. Most notable event: as soon as I entered the tropical section a Scarlet Mormon landed on my camera and laid an egg on it!
